As some of you may know, I’ve been in physical therapy for nearly a year. As I approach this anniversary date, my workout experiences have been completely different. Or maybe it’s that I feel completely different in mind, body, and soul. My mental health is so much improved. My body is getting stronger. And I couldn’t have taken this journey of climbing out of the valley and up the mountain (and I’m still climbing) without my Christian faith. (my full backstory here.)
While I don’t know if Chris Freytag has had any experience like mine, she echoes my sentiments when she says during the workout “We are so thankful for our health. We’re lucky that we can do this.”
I’m most definitely thankful, and lucky, and blessed. A year ago I could barely walk down our street and now I can walk a bit over a mile with no pain. And I can do some of my DVD workouts again which is a gift because I can still get my steps in and move my body in different ways when the weather is icky or when the pollen count is insanely high (I have fierce seasonal spring allergies).
Today I did the Two Mile Endurance Walk (32 minutes) by Chris Freytag. It’s from her Walk and Tone: Calendar Program DVD. This DVD is produced by Get Healthy U TV and contains four workouts: One Mile Power Walk (16 minutes), Two Mile Endurance Walk (32 minutes), Walk & Tone Express (22 minutes), and Walk & Tone to the Max (43 minutes).
(I will add that this is a DVD-R. In the past, my DVD player has not liked DVD-Rs but there must be different types or brands of DVD-Rs because my DVD player played this DVD-R without any issue, the video playback was incredibly smooth and my DVD player remained quiet the entire time and made zero whirring noises.)
I’ve only done the Two Mile Endurance Walk so far and I must say I’m quite impressed.
For starters, there are definitely some moves in walk that are very fun and fresh, moves that I haven’t seen in any Leslie Sansone or Jessica Smith walking workouts.
Secondly, it was a challenging workout, but in a good way (again I’m in PT so YMMV). I was sweating. I was working hard. I had to pause the video a few times to get a drink of water. I’m a bit sore now and I know I’ll be sore later today and maybe a bit tomorrow. But that’s okay. It’s soreness not pain. I’m working my muscles and getting them stronger.
Thirdly, Chris is excellent at cueing, giving instruction on form, and offering interesting information on our anatomy and muscles and joints.
Fourth, Chris has a genuine cheerful and positive attitude. She is always encouraging you to do what you can and that if something gets too challenging you can always go back to the base move (marching in place with arms pumping).
My second favorite quote from Chris in this workout is: “You are so close to the finish line. You never quit before the finish line. We take it right to the end. And then I always say the finish line is the beginning of the next race, right? We’ll do this again, maybe not today, but another day.”
The Two Mile Endurance Walk (32 minutes) from her Walk and Tone: Calendar Program DVD was a great workout and I look forward to doing the other three workouts on this DVD. (The DVD is currently on sale for $13.99!!)

Thank you to Get Healthy U TV for sending me this DVD in exchange for a review. (I’ll share my feelings about the other three workouts soon.)
